Position Summary Parker Towing Company, located in Northport,
Alabama, is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Buyer to
support our operations in the logistics and maritime industry. The
Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, and purchasing materials,
equipment, and services to support fleet operations, terminal
functions, and corporate needs. This position plays a key role in
ensuring cost-effective purchasing and maintaining vendor
relationships that align with company goals. Key Responsibilities
Source, and evaluate with suppliers to secure the best prices,
terms, and quality for goods and services. Maintain relationships
with key vendors and suppliers in the logistics and maritime
sectors. Prepare and issue purchase orders and ensure timely
delivery of required materials and equipment. Monitor inventory
levels and coordinate with operations teams to anticipate
purchasing needs. Evaluate supplier performance and resolve issues
regarding delivery, pricing, and quality. Ensure compliance with
company purchasing policies and applicable safety and environmental
standards. Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and accounting
teams to streamline procurement processes. Analyze market trends
and identify opportunities for cost savings and process
improvements. Maintain accurate purchasing records, reports, and
documentation within the procurement system. Travel to multiple
facilities in the Mobile area as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s
degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration,
Logistics, or a related field (preferred). 3 years of experience in
procurement or purchasing, ideally within the logistics, maritime,
or transportation industry. TWIC card required Forklift certified
preferred Strong negotiation and communication skills with a focus
on building supplier relationships. Proficient in Microsoft Office
Suite and purchasing/inventory management systems. Excellent
attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills. Ability
to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Knowledge of maritime operations, fleet maintenance, and marine
equipment procurement is a plus. Ability to work independently Work
Environment This position is based at Parker Towing Company’s
Mobile, Alabama office. The role primarily involves office-based
work with occasional visits to terminals, vessels, and vendor sites
